Janet Elvidge grew up on MDI where her love of nature and art started early. Janet found art to be a way to express the light and beauty of Acadia National Park where she spent many hours biking and hiking through the many shades of green, soaking up the salty sun on a pink granite ledge or swimming in the icy, blue ocean.
Janet has taken art classes at MDIHS, University of Maine in Orono, Eastern Maine Community College (EMCC), ArtWaves, and in a variety of adult education classes including adobe sculpture, and watercolor classes from Connie Henderson. Janet has shown her work at The John Rohman Art Gallery Student, Staff and Faculty Art Show, Dirigo Pines Art Show, ArtWaves Member Show, the Southwest Harbor Library and in the Bangor Art Society Juried Show, 2016.
Janet has her Masters of Library Science and is currently the Associate Dean of Library Services at EMCC Library where she is responsible for The John Rohman Art Gallery located in the library. She has worked with a variety of mediums including adobe sculpture, charcoal, mosaic watercolor on Yupo paper, acrylics, and most recently encaustic and wire jewelry.
